Quartzsite Guide

Every winter hundreds of thousands of people flock to Quartzsite's desert to camp in their RVs.

The BLM has thousands of acres in the surrounding desert where RVers camp at little or no cost.  As a result, Quartzsite remains one of the most popular winter-season RVing areas in the world.

From your secluded camping area, you gaze out across wide open spaces sprinkled with RVs and watch breathtaking sunsets.

The RV and Gem shows are world famous and attract people from across the US. Others simply flock there to beat the winter cold and to enjoy the solitude. Seasonal vendors are the biggest business in town. You can find anything in block after block of vending areas.

Sooner or later you will want to explore the desert around you. You need a guide. Service plummets a few miles from town. You need some sort of directions. There are many worthwhile things to see and enjoy. You can hike or search for an abandoned Spanish silver mine and gems. Look for wild burros, Desert Bighorn, petroglyphs, and more. Most of all find something enjoyable.

Every summer the winter visitors leave and the town again becomes a barren gas stop in the desert. Take home a story or two.
