This book includes many pictures with commentary of the best viewpoints in Capitol Reef NP.
Two vehicle loops are included, as is the scenic drive. The loops are the Cathedral Loop and the Loop the Fold. Each of these loops take a day. The scenic drive is a short drive south of the Visitors Center. The coverage includes other sights within the park, as well.
Information regarding sights outside of the park near Hanksville area are also provided. Sights outside the park include the Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry, the Barrier Canyon pictographs at Horseshoe Canyon, Goblin Valley State Park, the Temple Mountain Wash panel, Temple Mountain, and more.
Field work continues at the recently discovered Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry. The Great Galley Barrier Canyon Style pictographs at Horseshoe Canyon endure as globally significant symbols by early humans.
Staying in Hanksville for Horseshoe Canyon, a separate unit of Canyonlands National Park, beats traveling from Moab.
This guide also provides suggestions for free and fee RV/camping sites.
